N\u00e4in v\u00e4itt\u00e4\u00e4 runoilija Leevi Lehto ruotsalaisen <em>Kritiker<\/em>-lehden haastattelussa, jonka originaalin voi k\u00e4yd\u00e4 lukemassa h\u00e4nen<br \/><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.leevilehto.net\/default.asp?a=1&amp;b=8&amp;amp;amp;c=13&amp;d=9\">blogistaan.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;It&#8217;s actually one of the most beautiful paradoxes I know of: despite his often wide &#8220;accessibility&#8221; and supposed &#8220;relevancy&#8221; to the important questions of the day, the generic Finnish novelist (and with due respect to the exceptions I know there to be) seems to live in his own peculiar ivory tower, not only without real living contacts &#8211; interaction &#8211; with his peers, but also (both in his public statements and in his actual behaviour when close to others), as a correlate to this isolation, often also embodying some of the worst values in culture: an overt contempt to, even hatred of, the common man, cynicism, arrogance, etc. This &#8211; almost never spoken-of &#8211; phenomenon has some old roots, in the male-chauvinistic tradition of much of our &#8220;realistic&#8221; prose, in the anti-intellectuality of the literary culture, in the power relations between critics and writers (still today, it is almost impossible for your ordinary Finnish newspaper-reviewer &#8211; himself often another incarnation of the same cynicism &#8211; to write about new prose without looking down to the writer as an inferior nature child&#8230;), etc. I offer this as a passing remark only &#8211; wanted to make since I believe these things not be foreign to other Scandinavian literary cultures either.&#8221;<\/em><br \/><em><\/em><br \/>Viime vuosina on yhdell\u00e4 jos toisella kirjallisella foorumilla julistettu kotimaisen proosan el\u00e4v\u00e4n jonkinlaista kukoistuskautta, joten Lehdon edustamat kriittiset \u00e4\u00e4nenpainot ovat tervetulleita.<\/p>\n<p>Mutta metakeskustelu aikalaiskirjallisuuden ominaispiirteist\u00e4 on aina hankalaa enk\u00e4 ole varma, avartavatko Lehdon <em>Kritikerin<\/em> palstoilla esitt\u00e4m\u00e4t yleistykset ja tyypittelyt ratkaisevasti kenenk\u00e4\u00e4n ymm\u00e4rryst\u00e4 kotimaisen proosan tilasta.<\/p>\n<p>Ongelma on l\u00e4hinn\u00e4 siin\u00e4, ett\u00e4 kun leimataan &#8220;geneerinen suomalainen romaanikirjailija&#8221; omahyv\u00e4iseksi, kyyniseksi tavallista ihmist\u00e4 halveksivaksi anti-intellektuelliksi p\u00e4\u00e4dyt\u00e4\u00e4n niin jykev\u00e4\u00e4n abstraktioon, ett\u00e4 se pit\u00e4\u00e4 v\u00e4ist\u00e4m\u00e4tt\u00e4 paikkansa, osittain. Ja osatotuudet ovat usein valheista vaarallisimpia.<\/p>\n<p>Lehto toki yritt\u00e4\u00e4 naulata kritiikki\u00e4\u00e4n konkretiaan analysoimalla yksitt\u00e4ist\u00e4 teosta, Jari Tervon <em>Myyr\u00e4\u00e4<\/em>, mutta se ei paljon pelasta.<\/p>\n<p>Kirjallisen aikakauslehden moneen aihepiiriin r\u00f6nsyilev\u00e4 haastattelu ei ole paras mahdollinen foorumi n\u00e4in laajakantoisten kysymysten k\u00e4sittelyyn. Vaadittaisiin v\u00e4hint\u00e4\u00e4nkin laveaa esseet\u00e4, mieluiten tietysti esseekokoelmaa, jossa olisi useampia kirjoittajia.
